It’s always a delight to spend a little time in the sun at Retreat Pool & Cabanas.
Of course…the perfect beverage always makes your poolside adventure more pleasurable!
Retreat offers a full bar, so you can enjoy a buzzy beverage while you soak up the sun. While our extensive cocktail list and beer selections are second to none, the focus of today’s post is on our truly standout wine list.
Wine lovers, rejoice! The Retreat wine list is impeccably curated, and filled with wonderful selections that can be paired with our delectable menu offerings or enjoyed as a stand-alone beverage.
As Rumi said, “Either give me more wine or leave me alone.” Let’s take a little tour of the Retreat wine list!
Don’t forget: reservations are strongly encouraged at Retreat, located in the lovely Sycuan Resort, as we’re bustling year-round thanks to the perfect weather in the San Diego region. Make your reservation today!
Bubbles for All!
Oscar Wilde summed it up nicely when he wrote, “Pleasure without champagne is purely artificial.” We couldn’t agree more!
Champagne––and sparkling wine in general––really has a way of putting you in a party mood. It’s the perfect beverage to add a little sparkle to your day. Whether you need a mid-week pick me up or it’s an extra special occasion, the sparkling wines on our menu are always a great choice. Here’s what we’ve got on offer right now:
- Mumm Napa Brut Rosé
- Mionetto Il Prosecco from Veneto
- Chandon Brut from Napa
- Beau Joie Champagne, Epernay
Rosé All Day
Where there’s a will, there’s a Rosé! Rosé wine is incredibly versatile. It pairs well with just about any food. Whether you’ve ordered our Maine Lobster Roll (our version of a New England-inspired classic, served with crispy shallots, herb aioli on a griddled roll; pictured above) or the Retreat Burger (served with smoked sharp cheddar, butter lettuce, tomato, herb aioli, and optional added bacon or avocado), Rosé is going to act as the perfect complement.
Rosé is also great as a stand-alone beverage; go ahead, indulge in a glass (or two) while taking in the beautiful surroundings!
Our current Rosé offerings include:
- Mumm Napa Brut Rosé
- Chatea D’esclans Rosé, Whispering Angel, Provence
Bright whites, big city! White wine is often the perfect pick if you’re seeking out sunny, summery vibes.
Chilled white wine is an elegant addition to an afternoon in the sun, and it’s also a wonderful pairing with several of the menu items at Retreat. For example…a glass of Sauvignon Blanc with our Cobb Salad (made with chopped iceberg, cherry tomato, bacon, egg, avocado, and white balsamic vinaigrette) is truly a thing of beauty.
Here are the featured white wines on the Retreat menu at the moment:
- Torres Pazo Das Bruxas Albarino, Galicia
- Brancott Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough
- Blindfold White, California
- Rodney Strong Chard Chalk Hill, Sonoma
Red wine has a way of putting you in an easy, mellow sort of mood. That’s exactly the frame of mind you want to be in at Retreat! The living is even easier with our well-curated selection of red wines, ranging from food-friendly Pinot Noir to robust Cabernet Sauvignon.
Whether you’re enjoying our Apple & Quinoa Salad (made with chickpeas, apple, gouda, roasted pumpkin seeds, and apple vinaigrette) with a glass of Pinot Noir or feasting on our Crispy Seasoned Fries with a gorgeous glass of Malbec, our red wines are bound to have you feeling fine.
Here’s our current list of red wine picks at Retreat:
- Kenwood Pinot Noir Six Ridges, Sonoma
- Graffigna Centenario Malbec, Sonoma
- Ferrari Carano Merlot, Sonoma
- Justin Cabernet Sauvignon, Paso Robles
